Enough

It is enough for me by day
To walk the same bright earth with him;
Enough that over us by night
The same great roof of stars is dim.

I have no care to bind the wind
Or set a fetter on the sea --
It is enough to feel his love
Blow by like music over me.

Will you miss me?

They say a picture can say a thousand words and I believe that to be true. I saw this photo a few months ago and had saved it because I thought it to be profound. I guess deep down I knew something would happen that I didn't want to believe and didn't want to admit .

People come into our lives when we least expect it, and usually when we need them the most. The same goes for when its time to say goodbye, it happens when you least expect it, sometimes. I've lost someone very dear to me and I don't have the words to explain how much it hurts, maybe someday I can put it into words that which will make sense. I do know that I have no regrets.

A minute with you is better than a lifetime without you.

The End...

And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
~~Abraham Lincoln~~

2008 Olympics ~ Beijing, China ~ August 8th to August 24th

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Olympics this year. From the Opening Ceremonies with the drums and the synchronized performances to the Closing Ceremonies which portrayed the same brilliance.

In past years I have never really watched much of the Olympics. Some, yes, but this year I watched every night, getting caught up in it, no matter the event.

My favorites were watching Michael Phelps breaking world record after world record, and winning each of his 8 gold medals. He not only broke world records, but broke the record for the most gold medals won in an Olympic Year. He is an amazing athlete and to think that his mom only got him into swimming to give him an outlet for his ADHD diagnosis. Below is the photo taken when he won the 100m Butterfly by one tenth of a second! Wow!

Another event that always has my interest, is gymnastics. Whether it be men's or women's, I think it is fascinating. Watching Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin winning gold medals and the emotions that flowed through those young girls, its an image t
hat will not soon be forgotten. The photo below shows Shawn winning the Gold for the Individual Balance Beam and Nastia receiving Silver.

Now, I can't wait till London 1012 and quite possibly, Chicago 2016. I have high hopes that the games will come to Chicago so I can personally attend!

Fuzzified!

Satchel and Bucky crack me up. Never a dull moment in their comics...heh! Bucky is always so mean to poor Satchel, but I think Satchel likes it...lol!

Tune It Up #1

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.
~Victor Hugo

Music! Music! Music! It's a part of my everyday life. I don't know that a day goes by where I don't listen to music at some point in my day. Music settles me when I am angry or frustrated and even sometimes when I am sad. There is just so much emotion in music that it can take you where ever you want to go, depending on your mood.

So I thought once a week or so I would share with you a little bit of my taste. Of course, it changes all the time because I listen to so much of everything, with the exception of rap. Not so much into that, however, there are some that I do like..hehe!

I hope you enjoy, and maybe even find something that's new to you that you like!

Finger Eleven - One Thing

Evian -We Will Rock You

Tori Amos - China

And so it begins...

Today was the first day of school for my kids. My daughter, in 5th grade, was pretty excited to be going back. She missed her friends that she hadn't seen in a while and she, for the most part, enjoys school. My son, on the other hand, well, not so much. I asked him if he was excited about going back to school, and he said, "Yeah, for recess and PE!". I tried not to laugh because I want him to realize the importance of school but that was just too cute. Only in second grade and it already is starting with him. He is a smart kid, but he gets bored fast, which is part of the reason he doesn't like school. I can only imagine what it will be like as the years go on.

They had a really good first day, with the exception of a busing mis-hap at the end of they day. They tried to put my kids on the wrong bus. Thankfully my daughter is very attentive and approached the bus driver telling him she didn't think that she was put on the right bus because no one that she lived by, was on that bus. She was right. They put her on the wrong bus. Once they figured out what bus she was supposed to be on, she was very responsible and went and got her brother as well, and found their way to the correct bus. I'm very proud that she didn't leave her brother on the wrong bus...lol. They fight too much, but when it comes down to it, she looks after him.

With that said, I thought I would share this cute little video of a mom singing to the Willliam Tell Overture. Everything you say in a day to your child/children in under three minutes. Have a listen...

Turtle Power!!

Try to be like the turtle. At ease in your own shell. ~~Bill Copeland

I love turtles! I've slowly been collecting them over the past year or so and I still cannot seem to get enough of them. Although, they are not always very easy to find.

It started when I took my kids to a place called Paint N Fun. You pick out a ceramic piece and paint it as you wish. I had chosen a turtle because he was cute and I was hooked. I now have three painted turtles and continue to look for other turtle "paraphernalia".

I was doing a search on turtles one day and found a profound saying. It kind of stayed with me. I wish I would have written down the source to give proper credit, but I fear I did not. However, I wanted to share it just the same.

The turtle's whole life is one of steadfastness of effort and patience. Slow and steady: A life of 'non-doing'. There is a saying "home is where the heart is". The turtle is always at home within itself.

Definitely something I need to work on every day, steadfastness of effort and patience, as well as being at home with myself. That is one of my toughest struggles, one bump in the road I just cannot seem to get over. Maybe my turtles will help me. =)

Of course, now I have to share some turtle pictures....you don't run across many of these either. I guess the poor turtles aren't very popular but they rate high in my book!!

Communication Is Key

"The difference between the right word and almost the right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug." ~Mark Twain

I received an email from my dad this morning and it was one that made me laugh and laugh and laugh. I suppose that is in part because I was reading it out loud in my car on my Black Berry all the while laughing. I can only imagine what people walking by were thinking...heh.

I mean absolutely no disrespect by what I am posting, just proof that good communication is key to many many things.

Enjoy....

In order to continue getting-by in America (our home land), we all
need to learn the NEW English language!

Practice by reading the following conversation until you are able to
understand the term "TENJOOBERRYMUDS".

With a little patience, you'll be able to fit right in.
Now, here goes...

The following is a telephone exchange between maybe you as a hotel
guest and room-service somewhere in the good old U S A today....

Room Service : "Morrin. Roon sirbees"
Guest : "Sorry, I thought I dialed room-service."
Room Service: " Rye . Roon sirbees .. morrin! Joowish to oddor

Guest: "Uh .. Yes, I'd like to order bacon and eggs."
Room Service: "Ow July den?"
Guest: ".... What??"
Room Service: "Ow July den?!? ... pryed, boyud, pooched?"
Guest: "Oh, the eggs! How do I like them? Sorry .. scrambled,

Room Service: "Ow July dee baykem? Crease?"
Guest: "Crisp will be fine."
Room Service: "Hokay. An Sahn toes?"
Guest: "What?"
Room Service: "An toes. July Sahn toes?"
Guest: "I ... don't think so."
RoomService: "No? Judo wan sahn toes???"
Guest: "I feel really bad about this, but I don't know what 'judo
wan sahn toes' means."
RoomService: "Toes! Toes! .. Why Joo don Juan toes? Ow bow

Guest: "Oh, English muffin!!! I've got it! You were saying toast'
... Fine ... Yes, an English muffin will be fine."
RoomService: "We bodder?"
Guest: "No, just put the bodder on the side."
RoomService: "Wad?!?"
Guest: "I mean butter ... just put the butter on the side."
RoomService: "Copy?"
Guest: "Excuse me?"
RoomService: "Copy ... tea .. meel?"
Guest: "Yes. Coffee, please . and that's everything."
RoomService: "One Minnie. Scramah egg, crease baykem, Anglish
moppin, we bodder on sigh and copy .
rye??"
Guest: "Whatever you say."
RoomService: "Tenjooberrymuds."
Guest: "You're welcome"

Remember I said "By the time you read through this YOU WILL
UNDERSTAND 'TENJOOBERRYMUDS'"

.....and you do, don't you!=

Oh goodness me..I'm still laughing...LOL!!

Season Finale

Until this season, season 4, I had never watched So You Think You Can Dance. I haven't enjoyed a "reality" show as much as I have this one. I don't really know what it is about the show that draws me in, but I could watch them dance over and over and over. I suppose some of it is envy. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with the gene for dancing and I am always awestruck when I watch how easy they make it look. I can only imaging how difficult it really is.

As of now, I am watching the season finale and it has about 30 minutes until they announce the winner and I can't wait to see who has won. In my opinion, they are all great, the top 20 even. Although, the two people that caught my eye from the day they showed their auditions, were Katee and Joshua.

Katee came on the show with her best friend and roommate and when it came down to them being the last two contenders for the top 20, they were each asked a question. "If you don't make it tonight, will you come back next year?". Her friend, whos name escapes me said yes, but Katee had said no, because this was her second year in trying out and she didn't know if she could handle the disappointment again. Before they gave their answers the judges had already made their decisions but hadn't announced it. They sent the girls backstage again (not normal) to do a re-vote based on Katee's answer. I thought for sure she blew it, but because the votes were tied, their original vote stuck and Katee was through. Wow, they would have made a giant mistake had they let her go. She is amazing and watching her has sometimes brought me to tears. (Yeah, I know! I'm a TOTAL sap, but that's ok because I'm alright with that!)

Joshua. He makes my heart melt. He came from a not so perfect background and has overcome and moved on from that and you can see in his eyes how much he loves to dance. He is so full of emotion and strentgh. I could watch him for hours. Not only is he an amazing dancer but he portrays his personality as a sweetheart to the fullest.

Ironically enough, when they chose who was going to pair with whom, Katee and Joshua were coupled. Breathtaking and never a dull moment.

Altough I love to watch them both, I think that Katee is my favorite and I hope that she is the winner. She performs flawlessly almost everytime she dances and when off stage she is such a goof. Out of everyone, she is the one I enjoy watching the most. To show a bit of her talent, here is my favorite performance with her out of them all.

Here she performs the Pas De Deux with Will......

See you in 30 minutes to announce the winner!!!!

Well, I am a bit disappointed that Katee didn't win, but Joshua did and I am so happy about that! He is amazing and so deserving of it!! Way to go Joshua! Below you will find a video of Joshua and Katee dancing to a John Mayer song, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room...my favorite showcasing Joshua.

So long...sort of

It has just been reported that Brett Favre is being traded to the New York Giants. I knew it was coming. I knew it was going to happen. When Favre announced that he wanted to come back after he had already declined previous offers months ago after having "retired", there was just no way that the Packers could, in good conscience, let him start or even play for their team anymore.

In all honesty, I will miss him playing for the Packers, but I really don't blame them either. How many times can he "cry wolf" in regards to retiring? Its not fair to the team.

So until the reports actually confirm this trade, I will softly sigh and hope we can have another amazing football season, only with out him. Or maybe even hope that just maybe, they let him come back......we shall see.....

Grrr..

I was looking at my blog page just now and I realized something that should have stuck out like a sore thumb when I chose it, well, before I chose it actually. Sigh....I really love the design of this theme which can be found HERE to download. However, it tells you the time you post it, but NOT THE DATE! What's up with that? That is a really important feature. Well, to me anyway.

It took me forever to transfer all my posts from Word Press here, I hope, when, and IF I find a new theme, it doesn't jack that up!

'Scuse me while I make a sad face and begin looking for a new blog theme.....

Laugh First

"Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can." -- Elsa Maxwell

I can't believe I am even going to share this because I feel really stupid about it, but it makes me laugh even as I write this. I hope it will at least help you to smile!

Every Friday I go out to lunch with the girls but due to other priorities, lately it has just been me and K. So today she wanted to go to Long John Silvers. We get there and have our chit chat and our laughs and all of a sudden I look at my black berry and realize we lost track of time. We hustle out of there in fear of being late.

Now mind you, the parking lot is in a shopping center so the bottom drive way you can only turn right so I had to go further to get to the upper drive so I could turn left, all the while worrying about being late. I stop at the top of the drive, wait for cars to go and an opening to turn left. Once I see I can go, I make the left turn.

All of a sudden K starts laughing so hard, and I'm like, "What!?". She looks at me like I had a third eye and said, "Didn't want to wait for the light to turn green, huh?".

I smacked my forehead and started laughing too. I hadn't even paid attention that it was a light there. I was worried about being late! We were laughing so hard I almost had to pull over because I couldn't see through the tears in my eyes!

Needless to say, when we got back to work, safely parked, she said, "Next time. I drive!" *laughing* I replied, "Hey, I looked for cars first! Your life wasn't in any danger!!". She just shook her head and laughed!

If you didn't get a laugh out of that, maybe you will with this cute little kitty kat...*giggles*
